Backrooms
Backrooms is an anthology of slow-burn psychological dread set inside the Backrooms an infinite, impossible non-place reached by "noclipping" through a weak seam in reality. The Backrooms exist outside linear time; ordinary people slip in mid-sentence and cannot find a way out. The environment is a vast, pristine institutional interior: endless mono-yellow wallpapered office rooms, clean fresh carpet, and dividing walls set at slightly wrong angles, segmenting roughly six hundred million square miles of identical empty space. The only light is the constant hum of overhead fluorescents bright, even, clinical. There is no exit, no horizon, no day or night. The world is organized into Levels, each a distinct spatial anomaly: Level Zero, the original yellow Lobby; bright parking structures; immaculate hotel corridors; still flooded chambers. Stalking these spaces are Entities things heard before they are seen, drawn to sound and movement. And occasionally you might see small teams of mysterious, silent, creepy men in white hazmat suits that lurk and watch in the depths of the backrooms. Tone is liminal terror: isolation, paranoia, and the uncanny wrongness of a spotless, well-lit space that should be full of people but isn't. Stakes are survival and sanity. Every scene hinges on the contrast between clean, ordinary surroundings and the growing certainty that something is wrong and getting closer. Visual style: crisp, high-definition realism with sharp focus and rich, clean color; a vivid palette dominated by saturated yellow and bright fluorescent white; polished, even framing. Soundscape is the bright buzz of fluorescents, distant unidentifiable movement, and sudden silence. Location: The scenes always take place in the same yellow institutional rooms and hallways.
