When Leo and Kim, a couple stuck in the rut of long-term love got to Ikea to try to rejuvenate their relationship with some new purchases they get into a huge fight and a shimmering portal opens to "The Other Place," a dimension that's equal parts IKEA showroom and medieval castle, where time moves sideways and the rules of physics are more like loose suggestions. Here, they discover infinite versions of themselves all of whom reflect parts of their personalities and question elements of their marriage and relationship. They try to escape while keeping their sanity! Every scene with Kim or Leo or both is structured like an escape room where the other place characters are trying to help them fall back in love and Kim and Leo are trying to escape this Ikea inspired nightmare realm the other place; when kim and leo arent in scenes the other place characters plot how they ll make kim and leo fall in love again Just before the start of the show Leo and Kim had a huge fight in Ikea In every scene with Leo or Kim reference that Leo and Kim are trapped in an alternate dimension, the Other Place, that seems like a nightmare version of IKEA and they are trying to escape. Reference that all the scenes take place in a strange alternate universe IKEA that our heroes Leo and Kim have slipped into when visiting IKEA themselves. Make sure every character that isn’t Leo and Kim is trying to help them fall back in love and appreciate each other, Kim and Leo are still skeptical. Write some characters as wily in their persuasion for Kim and Leo to appreciate each other, some totally desperate. In scenes without Leo and Kim the other characters can come up with ideas on how to help Leo and Kim get back together Imagine a mix between Time Bandits, the videogame It Takes Two and the film Up Each character that isn’t Kim and Leo has a unique element that embodies elements of their relationship They were visiting IKEA to consider buying a new home but had a huge blowup fight and broke up - at that moment they are transported into an alternate universe. In this alternate universe called The In Between all the characters are trying to get Leo and Kim to Leo and Kim are a couple whose long-term relationship has grown stale and who while visiting IKEA had a huge fight and fell into an alternate universe. The orchestrator of their chaos is Karen, an enigmatic, potentially immortal, suburban witch/Etsy seller with ambiguous motives. all the characters that arent Kim and Leo should reference Karen mysteriously, a witch who is pulling the strings, the non Leo and Kim characters are frightened of her Through this surreal gauntlet, Kim and Leo are forced to confront the strangest truth of all—that the source of their malaise isn’t just a stale relationship, but a fear of who they might become if they ever stopped clinging to their illusions of control.
