The Last Leaf

There was a time when trees gave us every breath. By year 2000, only one living tree remained. 20 years later, every breath came from oxygen machines. I'm Kai. My job is to maintain the city's oxygen exchange stations. Every day is exactly the same. [inhaling] It's okay, sweetheart. We'll figure it out. [machine beeping] Mind awfully wise. An insufficient credit warning is nothing new here. Nobody stops to help. I wanted to step in, but my own tank has only 18% left. In this city, we are all just trying to survive another hour. A real leaf? Impossible. There haven't been real trees in the city for years. [birds chirping] [exhaling]
