What if millions of people remember the exact same thing and every one of them is wrong? Or are they? What if reality isn't as fixed as we believe? The Mandela Effect, large groups sharing the same memory that history says never existed. Thousands of people, same false memory, no connection between them. Others believe something far stranger may be taking place. The phenomena takes its name from Nelson Mandela. Many people vividly remembered him dying in prison during the 1980s. In reality, Mandela was released in 1990 and died in 2013. How could so many people remember an event that never occurred? I remember hearing Mandela died years before he actually did. I remember seeing it on television. [chuckles] When I found out he was alive, I honestly thought everyone was joking. Perhaps no example is more famous. The Berenstain Bears. Berenstein. Berenstein. B-E-I-N. I'd stake my life on it. [suspenseful music]
